Shadow Dance

A lone figure seen from far behind, very small and out of focus against a vast flooded landscape in heavy rain. The figure is blurred, soft, barely distinguishable from the muted background — wearing clothes that blend into the grey-green floodwater and stormy sky, muted greys and faded greens, almost camouflaged. She walks slowly away into the distance, chasing something unreachable. The entire image has extreme analog film grain, heavy and textured like an old underexposed roll of Kodak Gold 200. Overcast stormy sky, palm trees bending in wind far in the distance. The mood is deeply wistful and longing. Warm, grainy film aesthetic — golden amber undertones bleeding through the grey, heavy grain, soft overexposure, faded and hazy. The figure should feel like she is dissolving into the landscape.

In the corner of my eye
I see her tiptoe on eggshells so softly
So eager to be loved first instead of an afterthought

She checks her face in the mirror and brushes her hair back and thinks,
In this audition, maybe she will be chosen
If she stands straight enough, if the cadence of her words is sweet enough and she says her lines just right
Just like the character she is meant to play in the drama of your mind

Something glimmering catches at the corner of your eye
She falters on her execution as she watches your candlelight gaze flicker
Her confidence crumbles at a split second moment of distraction

So she walks out of your theater to her next audition
